Nevada State Democratic Party Applauds President Obama and Senator Warren’s Warning on Republican Economic Agenda

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada State Democratic Party released the following statement echoing President Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren’s warnings on the Republican leadership’s disastrous economic agenda:

“This week, President Obama and Senator Warren reminded voters in Nevada that Republicans have no plan or solution to the inflation working families are presently facing,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Judith Whitmer, “We’re grateful to them for highlighting the danger of the GOP’s economic agenda, and the urgent need to defeat it.

“This past year, Republicans have opposed every effort made by Democrats to stand up to corporate price gouging and get real relief to our country’s working people. From infant formula to pay raises for firefighters to historic investments in American manufacturing and infrastructure, Republicans have tried to block any solution to the economic issues facing us. At the same time that the working class is struggling to meet their basic needs, the GOP is working to give tax cuts to the ultra-rich. Their rhetoric on inflation is more than hypocritical, it’s disingenuous, deceitful, and a flimsy distraction from their true intentions.

“Republicans have repeatedly declared their intention to gut Social Security and Medicare – programs essential to the health and well-being of millions of Americans. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has even gone so far as to indicate that his party is willing to use the debt ceiling to force their unpopular agenda on the country, risking triggering an economic disaster if their demands aren’t met.

“As President Obama and Senator Warren rightly pointed out, Democrats are committed to building an economy that works for all Americans. Nevada Democrats remain committed to that all-important effort and we’re proud to stand with our state’s elected representatives, unions, and working families as we strive together for true economic justice.”
