Statement From Nevada Democratic Party Chair on the Passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

Las Vegas — Today, following the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, the chair of the Nevada Democratic Party Chair, Judith Whitmer, released the following statement:

“Today, the labor movement of our country lost a giant. President Richard Trumka spent his life working to uplift the working people of our country and our state—and now, we must continue his work to preserve the dignity and security of workers in Nevada and across the country. President Trumka started his career as a blue-collar worker himself, and he implicitly understood that workers built this country and deserve their piece of the pie and a full chance to participate in our democracy at every level. Nevada is a stronger, more prosperous, and more democratic state because of President Trumka’s leadership in the union movement. His voice will be sorely missed but the fight for the working class will go on.”
