Ahead of Pence’s Reno Visit, NV Dems, DNC Chair Perez and Washoe Community Leaders Encourage Nevada Voters to Hold Trump Accountable At the Ballot Box

As Mike Pence visited Reno yesterday, DNC Chair Tom Perez and Nevada Democrats highlighted how the Trump administration’s failed pandemic response and attacks on the Affordable Care Act have hurt communities across Nevada. They also encouraged Nevadans to go to NevadaVotesEarly.com or NevadaVota.com to make their plan to vote for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot.

DNC Chair Tom Perez and Nevada Democrats blanketed the airwaves, urging Nevadans to cast their ballots for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and hold Trump accountable by making him a one-term president.

KUNR: DNC Blasts Trump Administration As Pence Visits Reno “Democrats are criticizing Vice President Mike Pence for holding a campaign event while COVID-19 cases are surging in Washoe County….While speaking at a “Get Out the Vote” event at the Democratic headquarters in Reno, DNC Chair Tom Perez said Pence, the head of the federal government’s coronavirus taskforce, should know the risks. ‘He’s not going to tell you the truth about the coronavirus and the truth of the matter is it’s getting worse. He’ll say, ‘We’ve turned a corner.’ We’ve turned a corner to nowhere,’ Perez said, ‘Nevadans want people who will level with them. I’m here today to make sure that everybody gets out and votes because we’re in a crisis right now.’”

KRNV: “In response to the Vice President’s visit, the Nevada State Democratic Party hosted a press event with Tom Perez…‘This president has no plan. He keeps telling us that we’re rounding the corner. What corner is he referring to? Because so many people in this state and across the country, they come home at night now to an empty seat at the kitchen table because they’ve lost a loved one.’”

KOLO: “Earlier today, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez was in town urging people to vote. Perez says the message for residents is to get out and vote early here in Washoe County… ‘I think voters should ask themselves the following question: how can an administration who can’t even get a handle on coronavirus within the West Wing of the White House get a handle on the coronavirus across America?’”

KTVN: “Pence’s reckless rally in Reno today can’t spin the truth about Trump: Nevadans are paying the price for his ineffective pandemic response with our lives and our livelihoods — especially in communities of color. While the Trump Administration has openly admitted that it’s waving the white flag on controlling the virus and claimed that we’re ‘rounding the corner’ on the pandemic, Washoe County just hit a record high for hospitalizations and active COVID cases. As head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, Pence owns that failed record more than anyone save for Trump himself. Nevadans deserve better than Trump and Pence’s incompetence — that’s why voters across the Silver State are making a plan to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Democrats on Thursday decried the Trump-Pence ticket for holding what Democrats called a ‘reckless’ rally in an area struggling with the pandemic, as well as the campaign’s messaging on the virus that the nation is ‘rounding the corner’ on containing it.”

Ahead of Pence’s visit, breast cancer survivor and Washoe County resident Dr. Angie Taylor penned an op-ed in This Is Reno sharing her personal story and condemning Trump’s attacks on the Affordable Care Act, which jeopardize health coverage for as many as 309,000 Nevadans.

This Is Reno: Biden-Harris: the right pick for healthcare policy. “When I see Trump say that he hopes the Court ends the Affordable Care Act or hear Pence refer to this vital law as a “disaster,” it breaks my heart and makes me angry. The real disaster is the Trump administration’s repeated attacks on Nevadans’ health care coverage. As the future of the ACA hangs in the balance, it’s clear that health care is on the ballot — and that Trump and Pence are playing politics with our lives. That’s why it’s more important than ever that we make our voices heard at the ballot box, and elect new leaders who will protect our care.”
