Yesterday, Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II voted at the College of Southern Nevada’s Tyrone Thompson Student Union, named in honor of the late Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson. Chair McCurdy joined with the family and friends of Thompson to discuss the importance of voting in this election. Thompson was a fierce advocate of voting rights and as a legislator fought to expand voting access.
In his remarks, Chair McCurdy urged Nevadans to follow Assemblyman Thompson’s example by standing up for their communities and voting:
“Tyrone worked so incredibly hard to expand access to the ballot box, to give every person a voice, to strengthen our democracy,” said Chair McCurdy. “Now, it’s up to us to make our voices heard and then become advocates for our communities like Tyrone was. Casting a ballot for a better future is one way we can make much needed progress. Make your plan to vote early today. You can mail back your ballot, drop it off at a dropbox location, or vote early in person now through October 30th.”
