Racism is a stain on this country that existed long before Donald Trump. But no modern president has ever coddled racists, peddled prejudice or inspired domestic terrorist that murder innocent Americans as Donald Trump has. This week, as our nation mourned and protested the shooting of Jacob Blake, we bore witness to yet another assassination of two protesters by a Trump-inspired murderer.
So it was at this moment, on the day that Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination, that Trump’s senior strategist said it was “better” for Trump to have “this chaos and anarchy.”
So it was at this moment, on the day that Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination, that Trump’s senior strategist said Trump’s reelection chances are “better” with America in chaos.
Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II released the following statement:
“Ignorance was the theme of this Republican convention. The struggle of families to pay rent, to buy groceries, and get medical treatment didn’t happen. The 180,000 American families mourning the loss of a loved one don’t exist. The murder of innocent Black Americans and assassination of fellow Americans who stood up to protest injustice and systemic racism didn’t happen.
“Trump and his allies have used this convention to write a narrative about Donald Trump because they don’t care about what happens in America. They are removed from reality, segregated behind walls and steel bars of their own making to hide from America. But Donald Trump is happening to America.
“It was only a month ago that, not far from where he addressed the nation tonight, Trump tear gassed peaceful protesters so he could hold a bible upside down – presumably because it is ‘better’ for Trump to pretend to be a Christian than to actually be the American President. The only way America gets better, heals the wounds of this presidency and faces the reality of centuries of systemic racism and oppression to become the more perfect union we have so long strived to be is if Donald Trump is removed from the presidency.”
