Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II released the following statement on the conclusion of the 31st Special Session:
“No one can deny Nevada has been hit disproportionately hard by this pandemic and the road to recovery will be long. People of color are suffering from this virus at a higher degree and our state’s unemployment rate is among the highest in the nation. No time like now is there a bigger need for federal aid and real leadership in the White House.
“Governor Steve Sisolak hasn’t stopped putting hardworking families first since our state was first hit with this virus. He continues to lead with compassion, diligence and–unlike our president–under the guidance of medical professionals. Speaker Jason Frierson and Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro made working across the aisle a priority and left no stone unturned when it came to the difficult task of cutting funding to fill a billion dollar hole in our budget. This won’t be the end of the challenges Nevadans will face, but we are better off because of these leaders.”
