NV Dems Host Spanish-Language Caucus Trainings

Yesterday, NV Dems concluded two days of successful Spanish-language caucus trainings aimed at educating and turning out Democrats within Nevada’s Latinx community. After filling Tuesday evening’s training, NV Dems held an overflow training Wednesday evening. The State Party began hosting Spanish-language trainings in September.

As the first diverse early state, Nevada is much more reflective of the Democratic Party and the country compared to other early states. With a Latinx community that accounts for nearly one-third of our population, Nevada elevates Latinx voices and issues. NV Dems are proud to continue offering Spanish-language caucus materials in our 2020 caucus, in addition to English and Tagalog, to ensure as many Nevada Democrats as possible can participate in our most expansive caucus yet. With Latinx voters projected to make up the second-largest voting bloc in the country in 2020, their voices will be critical to continuing our historic Democratic gains of 2016 and 2018.

“We have fantastic diversity in Nevada and with 72 days to go before our First in the West Caucus, going into all of our communities and educating everyone on our new caucus process will be crucial to keeping Nevada blue in 2020,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II. “With an increased number of caucus sites, multilingual caucus materials, and introducing four days of early voting, NV Dems is creating every opportunity possible to ensure our Latinx community and all Nevada Democrats participate in our most expansive and accessible caucus yet.”

This training is one in a series of varying constituency-focused trainings in which NV Dems work to encourage participation across every community. Our party is excited to continue working with the African-American, LGBTQ+, Labor, Rural, and Youth voter communities as we continue our constituency-focused trainings later this year and in early 2020.
