Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported credible allegations of sexual assault against President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. While Sen. Jeff Flake said yesterday that he believes the Senate Judiciary Committee should delay votes until they investigate the allegations, Sen. Dean Heller has been utterly silent on the news. Instead, Heller recently bet that Kavanaugh would be confirmed by the end of the month and has said he had “no reservations” about confirming Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:
“It takes a lot of courage for a woman to step forward and share her story about sexual assault, and Dean Heller should support the bipartisan call to investigate these allegations before the Senate rushes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. How can Senator Heller not have a single reservation about confirming Judge Kavanaugh? Senator Heller needs to have the backbone to put politics aside and do what’s right—even if that means going against his party leaders in Washington.”
