The Trump Administration is looking for ways to bypass Congress and enact a unilateral $100 billion tax cut on capital gains designed primarily to benefit the ultra-wealthy, according to recent news reports. This would be yet another irresponsible tax giveaway to the richest 1 percent after Sen. Dean Heller and Republicans in Washington jammed through their tax scam last year. Heller brags that he “helped write” this tax law, which is helping corporate CEOs and wealthy shareholders get “eye-popping” payouts at the expense of regular, hardworking families.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:
“Sen. Heller consistently looks out for the billionaires and ultra-wealthy donors who fund his campaigns, so it wouldn’t be hard to imagine him supporting the Trump Administration’s latest scheme to slash taxes again for the richest 1 percent of Americans. Will Sen. Heller stand up against this latest reckless maneuver to gift a $100 billion to the ultra-wealthy, or will he keep being a rubber stamp for the White House? Nevadans deserve an answer.”
