In a stunning reversal, Heller changed his position from hard “no” to voting “yes” to begin ACA repeal debate on the Senate floor
One year ago today, Nevadans watched Sen. Dean Heller break a key health care promise when he voted for a major procedural vote to begin debate on a slew of terrible GOP proposals to gut the Affordable Care Act. Just a month earlier, Heller had stood next to Gov. Brian Sandoval at a press conference and promised Nevadans he would vote against that same motion to proceed.
HELLER MADE A PROMISE:
Heller: “I’m just telling you this. If this is the bill, if this is the language on that procedural motion… I won’t be voting for it.” [6/23/17] (VIDEO)
BARELY A MONTH LATER, HE BROKE IT:
Axios: “Heller a ‘yes’ on motion to proceed for ACA repeal.” [7/25/18]
The Nevada Independent: “His spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry… on why Heller supports a motion to proceed now but opposed it earlier.” [7/25/17]
