Laxalt Directs Sexual Assault Survivors to Alleged Rapist and Admitted Sexual Harasser, Sheriff Gerald Antinoro

Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt may have finally renounced the endorsement of alleged rapist and admitted sexual harasser Gerald Antinoro just this week after running from the issue for months, but he is still encouraging survivors of sexual assault to contact Antinoro for assistance.

On the attorney general’s recently-launched webpage for his Sexual Assault Initiative, a page titled “Resources” directs visitors to local law enforcement to report a sexual assault. Unfortunately for Storey County women, Laxalt directs them to contact Sheriff Gerald Antinoro, who has been accused of rape and admitted to sexually harassing his former deputy, and has received “numerous….more than 10” other complaints of misconduct, including sexual harassment. Laxalt’s website links to the “Storey County Police Department,” which directs to the official page for the Storey County Sheriff’s Office.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokeswoman Helen Kalla released the following statement:

“Adam Laxalt continues to send sexual assault survivors to a sexual predator who has used his law enforcement position to terrorize women. For months, Laxalt stood with this same predator despite multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault. Despite Laxalt’s purely political moves to belatedly distance himself from the sheriff this week, he is still sending a clear message to women that he trusts Antinoro more than them.”
