REMINDER: Heller Voted to Confirm Scandal-Plagued Scott Pruitt, Never Joined Bipartisan Calls for His Resignation

After months of scandals plaguing his office, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt officially resigned today. Sen. Dean Heller voted to confirm Pruitt as EPA Administrator last year. Despite Pruitt’s rampantly unethical behavior and a right-wing agenda focused on rolling back environmental protections, Heller was conspicuously quiet about Pruitt’s embattled tenure, failed to stand up against the abuse of Pruitt’s taxpayer-funded office, and never joined bipartisan calls for Pruitt’s resignation. Here’s a complete list of Pruitt’s long list of controversies.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:

“Since he took over the Environmental Protection Agency last year, Scott Pruitt used his position to undo environmental protections and waste our tax dollars for his own personal gain, and Sen. Heller did nothing to stop him. It shouldn’t be hard to stand up against a corrupt, scandal-plagued member of the President’s Cabinet who is actively undermining the mission of the agency he leads, but Sen. Heller never mustered the backbone to do his job. Not only did Sen. Heller vote to confirm Scott Pruitt despite all the warning signs, he reminded Nevadans again that he’s too spineless and partisan to stand up for what’s right if it means challenging the Trump Administration.”
