Nevada Democrats came away the clear winners after tonight’s pre-taped candidate forum between Republican gubernatorial hopefuls Adam Laxalt, Dan Schwartz, Jared Fisher, and Fred Conquest. After dodging questions on his support of an accused sexual harasser and rapist, Sheriff Gerald Antinoro, and failing to conceal his extreme far-right views on education funding and background checks, Laxalt proved without a shadow of a doubt his unfitness to govern the state.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokeswoman Helen Kalla released the following statement:
“Bought-and-paid for Laxalt may have millions of dollars from the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson behind him, but he still came up short in proving he’s worthy of Nevadans’ votes. After dodging the only scheduled primary debate, Laxalt demonstrated once again his fear of revealing his true right-wing agenda to Nevada voters, his ineptitude at his current job, and his unpreparedness to occupy the governor’s mansion. Laxalt clearly can’t handle the tough questions, and it’s obvious to voters that he’s the wrong choice for Nevada’s next governor.”
