One week ago today, the NV Dems called on Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt to release his responses to the NRA’s 2018 Nevada candidate questionnaire to show Nevadans just how closely his views align with the gun lobby’s agenda.
To no one’s surprise, Laxalt has yet to divulge his answers to the NRA’s questions, which probe candidates’ positions on a range of issues, including expanding background checks, banning assault weapons, and carrying a firearm on school property.
Laxalt was scheduled to speak at the NRA’s annual convention in Dallas tomorrow, until his photo was mysteriously scrubbed from the event website. After months of dodging questions, Laxalt finally admitted he’s not attending in an effort to hide his true fealty to the gun lobby from Nevadans — despite the fact that he was a keynote speaker last year.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Helen Kalla released the following statement:
“Adam Laxalt thinks Nevada voters will forget all about his close relationship with the NRA by ducking this year’s convention. But we know Laxalt still takes his marching orders from the DC gun lobby, pushing their agenda on Nevadans instead of keeping us safe from gun violence. If Laxalt really isn’t afraid to show Nevadans his true views, he’ll release his responses to the NRA’s candidate questionnaire immediately.”
