Today, the NV Dems launched a new issue page on AskLaxalt.com, focusing on Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt’s positions on gun violence. After months of dodging questions on his scheduled appearance, Laxalt recently admitted he won’t be attending the NRA’s annual convention this weekend as he did last year, deciding to avoid the event in order to hide his true loyalty to the gun lobby from Nevadans.
Laxalt’s absence from this weekend’s NRA confab doesn’t mean he’s suddenly changed his tune — he’s still the same “wind-up toy” for the gun lobby he’s always been. Laxalt campaigned for the NRA’s $6.6 million effort to defeat a background check expansion measure, and has yet to lift a finger to work to enforce the initiative that Nevada voters passed. Laxalt constantly avoids discussing gun violence, and has punted to the federal government on banning bump stocks instead of leading on the issue at the state level.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Helen Kalla released the following statement:
“Adam Laxalt has failed at every possible opportunity to be a leader on preventing gun violence. He has made it clear that he’s more interested in carrying out the gun lobby’s agenda than the will of the people he represents. Try as he might, Laxalt can’t dodge the fact that he’s been nothing but a puppet for the gun lobby his entire short career in Nevada.”
The NV Dems launched AskLaxalt.com to reveal Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt’s dodges and radical views on a range of key issues. Each week, a new issue page will be rolled out to remind Nevadans just how out of step Laxalt is on issues that matter to them.
