Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL): “there’s no evidence whatsoever that the money’s been massively poured back into the American worker”
Sen. Dean Heller’s Republican colleague, Marco Rubio, told the truth in a recent interview about the unpopular tax bill that Heller’s bragged about helping write: there’s no evidence this giveaway to giant corporations is really trickling down to workers. Another GOP senator, Bob Corker, said this month that his vote for the tax bill could be “one of the worst votes” he’s ever made.
Earlier this month, new polling showed that voters still disapprove of the tax plan and aren’t buying GOP talking points. Just last week, Heller skipped a Senate Finance Committee hearing where experts railed against the tax bill for being a poorly written and fiscally irresponsible giveaway to the wealthy.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:
“Sen. Rubio is admitting what’s become clear over the past few months: the Republican tax bill was designed to keep big corporations happy instead of protecting hardworking Nevada families. Heller’s tax plan puts corporate CEOs first at the expense of regular Nevadans, and now even members of Heller’s party are starting to be honest about how reckless and dishonest this bill really is. Heller’s unequivocal and hyper-partisan support for this tax bill as he seeks re-election is more proof that Heller will always put his wealthy donors, his party leaders, and his political self-interest ahead of good policy that truly puts hardworking Nevada families first.”
