Today, the NV Dems launched AskLaxalt.com, a website focused on revealing Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt’s extreme and dangerous views. Laxalt has gone to great lengths to conceal his fringe views on important issues, and AskLaxalt.com will offer Nevadans the answers Laxalt won’t provide.
AskLaxalt.com will highlight Laxalt’s dodges and radical views on a range of key issues, starting with Laxalt’s plan to cut education funding. Each week, a new issue page will be rolled out to remind Nevadans just how out of step Laxalt is on issues that matter to them.
Nevada’s education system is one of the most important topics in this year’s election. Public schools are in desperate need of improvement, yet Laxalt wants to repeal hundreds of millions of dollars in historic, bipartisan education funding. Laxalt’s campaign against the investment that outgoing Gov. Brian Sandoval championed has been a sticking point between the two Republicans, even leading Sandoval to decline to endorse his attorney general to replace him. Laxalt recently unveiled his own education plan, in which he promises to keep education funding levels the same but offers no clear plan for making up the nearly $200 million in cuts he’d make in just the first year if he repeals the education funding mechanism.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Helen Kalla released the following statement:
“Laxalt consistently hides from the issues because he knows his extreme, partisan views are out of step with Nevadans. Laxalt wants to strip hundreds of millions of dollars a year from public schools and won’t tell Nevadans how he’d honor his promise to keep funding levels the same. AskLaxalt.com will continue to spotlight key issues at stake in this election and remind voters of the many times Laxalt has refused to own up to the radical agenda he’s pushed during his short time in Nevada.”
