With the candidate filing period now closed, Nevada has strong Democratic candidates running for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, statewide constitutional offices, the state legislature, and local government. Democrats are prepared to build on our incredible success from 2016 by taking back Dean Heller’s U.S. Senate seat and the governor’s mansion, holding our majority in the Congressional delegation, flipping constitutional offices from red to blue, and expanding our majorities in Nevada’s Senate and Assembly.
“Democrats are going to win in communities across Nevada because of the strength of our candidates and the enthusiasm of our voters,” said U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto. “In the coming months, our candidates will spread the message of economic security, fairness, opportunity, and equality in stark contrast to Republicans’ rhetoric of hate and division. Nevada Democrats achieved historic victories in 2016, and we’re ready to make history once again in November.”
“While Republicans duke it out for who can get the most support from Trump, Democrats will be fighting for a better life and better opportunities for all Nevadans,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chairman William McCurdy II. “Whether it’s better schools, more affordable health care, better-paying jobs, or safer communities, Democrats know what’s important to Nevada families this election year. We are prepared to out-organize and out-run Republicans all the way through Election Day to continue fighting for progress in the Silver State.”
