One week ago today, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reversed an Obama-era policy and announced that states with legal marijuana industries, like Nevada, could be subject to federal prosecution. Since then, Republican candidate for Nevada attorney general Wes Duncan has yet to speak up in defense of the will of Nevada’s voters.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Helen Kalla released the following statement:
“Wes Duncan has had a week to speak out against the Trump administration’s overreach and promise to fight for the will of Nevada voters. Instead, he’s chosen not to defend our growing industry that has already created close to 7,000 new jobs and generated millions of dollars for Nevada schools. Nevadans deserve an attorney general who will stand up to the federal government’s attempts to infringe on our sovereignty — and neither current attorney general Adam Laxalt nor candidate Duncan have pledged to do so. For every minute that he remains silent, Duncan insults the thousands of Nevadans with well-paying jobs in this new industry, along with the schools and students who depend on the revenue it creates.”
