Today, the Nevada State Democratic Party announced the expansion of its communications and rapid response operation to hold Republican Senator Dean Heller accountable in 2018. The state party has hired Sarah Abel as Press Secretary, joining Stewart Boss on the communications team.
Sarah Abel most recently served as the Communications Director for the Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus during the 2017 legislative session. During the 2016 election cycle, Abel served as Press Secretary on Arizona Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick’s high-profile campaign for Senate and as the Communications and Digital Director for the Nebraska Democratic Party.
“As Democrats gear up for 2018, we are thrilled to add Sarah Abel to our team holding Senator Heller accountable,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II. “Sarah will play a pivotal role ensuring Nevadans understand Senator Heller’s broken promises on health care, his self-serving record as a career politician, and his partisan agenda voting 90 percent of the time with Mitch McConnell this year. I know Sarah’s communications skills, her Senate campaign experience, and her understanding of Nevada’s unique political landscape will be an asset to the state party and our efforts to defeat Senator Heller.”
“After his self-destructive summer of reversals on health care, Senator Heller is the poster boy for what’s wrong right now with Washington Republicans,” said Abel. “Senator Heller has proven time and time again that he can’t be trusted because he puts himself and his party leaders first, and we will continue to remind Nevadans how he has betrayed their trust and undermined their access to affordable health care. This is Democrats’ best opportunity to flip a Senate seat from red to blue in 2018, and I’m excited to get to work.”
