After a disastrous week that raised “serious questions” about whether Attorney General Adam Laxalt is even fit to be Governor, the Republican civil war in Nevada is intensifying.
GOP State Treasurer Dan Schwartz has launched an attack website hitting Laxalt for being “for sale” because he’s “taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists, political insiders, and special interests.” The site specifically highlights the ethics controversy where the Attorney General was caught on tape pressuring Nevada’s top gaming regulator to intervene in a lawsuit on behalf of Laxalt’s biggest campaign donor, casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson.Schwartz’s campaign consultant told Fox News yesterday that Adam Laxalt is “being bought and sold by outsider money.”
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement:
“Dan Schwartz is putting Adam Laxalt’s ethics problems and his self-serving abuse of his taxpayer-funded office front and center, laying the groundwork for a Republican primary contest focused on debating who’s the most corrupt. Adam Laxalt is unfit to be Nevada’s next Governor, in no small part because he’s bought and paid for by lobbyists, special interests and the ultra-wealthy. Concerns about Adam Laxalt’s unethical behavior will resonate with Nevadans across the ideological spectrum in 2018.”
