Las Vegas, NV – This morning, conservative businessman Danny Tarkanian announced on Fox & Friends that he will take on unpopular incumbent Senator Dean Heller in the 2018 Republican primary. Senator Heller has consistently managed to infuriate talk radio and anger his base this year by appearing to flip back and forth on repealing the Affordable Care Act. In a sign of how worried the Heller campaign is about Tark’s primary challenge, they’re already spending money against him.
Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II released the following statement:
“Things just got worse for the GOP’s weakest Senator – again. This will be a bruising, resource-draining primary fight for Nevada Republicans who were already struggling to hold on to this cycle’s most vulnerable Senate seat. Dean Heller’s strategy of dancing around on health care, hiding from his constituents and trying to mislead voters with absurd political gymnastics has clearly backfired and alienated Nevadans across the political spectrum. Whether we’re running against a two-faced fraud like Senator Heller or a Tea Party extremist like Danny Tarkanian, Democrats are poised to win this race in 2018.”
