Las Vegas, NV – As the GOP’s heartless effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act (so they can cut taxes for the rich) moves from the House to the Senate, Nevada’s Dean Heller – the most vulnerable Republican Senator up for re-election in 2018 – once again finds himself in an awkward predicament. Today, CNN’s Manu Raju said Heller could be the deciding vote for repeal in the Senate and highlighted the competing pressures Heller is facing from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and activists in his home state.
Conservative talk radio in Nevada is already attacking Heller for refusing to support the House bill. Behind closed doors last month, Heller told a Republican group that he wants to “get to a yes” on ACA repeal and doesn’t necessarily object to ripping health care away from millions of Americans. Heller has voted at least 20 times to dismantle and repeal the ACA.
