Senator Heller Supports Repealing ACA Without Protecting 370K Nevadans from Losing Health Coverage

Las Vegas, NV – Republican Senator Dean Heller was noticeably absent today from a letter sent by four Republican Senators to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell condemning the House GOP’s Affordable Care Act repeal plan because it lacks protections for people who have benefited from the expansion of Medicaid. Governor Sandoval has tried his best to steer Senator Heller in the right direction on this issue, but Heller appears to be fully committed to his goal of ripping health care away from 370,000 Nevadans.

“The Affordable Care Act has saved lives and expanded access to health care for hundreds of thousands of families in Nevada, and Medicaid expansion has been a critical bipartisan component of expanding coverage,” said William McCurdy II, Nevada State Democratic Party Chair. “Dean Heller is so extreme and so loyal to Donald Trump’s agenda that he is going out of his way to ignore Governor Sandoval’s clear concerns about the devastating consequences of rolling back Nevada’s Medicaid expansion.”
