Las Vegas, NV – North Korea confirmed a successful test of a nuclear warhead recently, but when Congressman Heck had the chance to impose tougher sanctions on North Korea, he skipped the vote and attended a fundraiser instead.
In February, the House of Representatives voted to implement harsher sanctions on North Korea for their nuclear and long-range ballistic missile tests, but Joe Heck went to a fundraiser hundreds of miles away. This shouldn’t be surprising. After all, this is the same Congressman Heck who denounced Republicans who don’t support Donald Trump for hurting the Republican Party. And it’s the same Congressman Heck who said he completely supports Donald Trump having his finger on the nuclear launch codes.
“Congressman Heck is so beholden to his party and political career that he would skip a vote on imposing sanctions on North Korea to attend a fundraiser,” said Mairead Lynn, spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party. “Congressman Heck skipped the vote to impose harsher sanctions on North Korea and he trusts a madman like Donald Trump with the nuclear codes. Nevada needs a Senator who will put our safety first, not Donald Trump and Congressman Heck’s political careers.”
