Ford Statement on Trump’s Insulting New Pitch to African American Voters

Las Vegas, NV – At a rally on Friday, Donald Trump asked the African American community, “What do you have to lose? You’re living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs.” In response to Trump’s insulting new pitch to African American voters, Nevada Senate Democratic Leader Aaron D. Ford released the following statement:

“There’s a reason the Republican presidential nominee has record low support from African American voters — from day one, Donald Trump has made discrimination a cornerstone of his campaign. In the past, Trump has repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of the nation’s first African American President, failed to unequivocally denounce the Ku Klux Klan and regularly retweeted white supremacists.

“Donald Trump’s crude depiction of all African Americans as living in poverty with terrible schools and no jobs shows how little respect he has for our community. The truth is we have far too much to lose, and that’s why we can’t afford a fraud like Donald Trump in the White House.”
