Labor organization representing over 200,000 Nevadans endorses Catherine Cortez Masto for U.S. Senate because of her record as bipartisan problem solver
Las Vegas, NV – Today, the Nevada State American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), which represents over 200,000 members of 120 unions in the state, announced it is supporting former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto to be the state’s next U.S. Senator over her Republican opponents, Congressman Heck and Sharron Angle.
Nevada’s AFL-CIO recognized that Cortez Masto will work with Democrats and Republicans across the aisle to increase the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for equal work, and stop anti-union trade deals that ship jobs overseas, unlike her opponents Congressman Heck and Sharron Angle who will always side with Washington Republicans over Nevada’s hardworking families.
“Congressman Heck and Sharron Angle have made clear they will side with their Republican Party bosses in Washington even if it means shipping American jobs overseas,” said Sarah Zukowski, spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party. “Just last year, Congressman Heck voted to fast track a job-killing trade deal that was negotiated behind closed doors and voted against measures supporting the American workers who lose their jobs because of trade deals. It is no surprise that an organization representing over 200,000 Nevada workers supports a candidate like Catherine Cortez Masto, who will actually solve problems for them in Washington, not ship their jobs overseas.”
