Las Vegas, NV – Poor Michael Roberson… after releasing his first quarter fundraising numbers almost as late as possible on Friday, the Republican Senate boss and so-called “fundraising machine” got outraised by his conservative businessman opponent, Danny Tarkanian. Tark is already up on Fox News Channel with his first TV ad slamming Roberson’s legislative record.
Meanwhile, Roberson is (still) in hiding. In a profile of the increasingly heated Republican primary for CD3, the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote on Sunday, “Roberson’s campaign declined multiple requests from the Review-Journal to make him available for an interview to discuss his record.” Of course, the strategy of dodging questions, declining interviews and canceling debates is nothing new for Roberson.
On conservative talk radio today, Tarkanian explained, “If you can’t answer questions, I guess your only option is to be silent.” Host Kevin Wall followed up with an open invitation on the air for Roberson to appear on his show:
Kevin Wall: “I’ve got an open invitation to Michael Roberson to come on the show, talk about the largest tax increase in the history of our state, talk about some of the other things that he blocked as the Senate leader. And I’ll give you as much time as you want. You want 30 minutes, you want 45 minutes? I’ll give you 45 minutes, whatever you want. But I would love to have Michael Roberson on and talk about his record of accomplishment and what he brings to the race in CD3. So the invitation, it’s an open invitation Michael. You want to come on? You’re welcome to do so.”
Don’t hold your breath.
