Las Vegas, NV – Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund endorsed Catherine Cortez Masto to be Nevada’s next U.S. Senator. In the endorsement, the group cited her record of fighting to preserve Nevada’s natural resources and public lands and her commitment to investing in clean energy jobs.
Cortez Masto’s record clearly contrasts with those of her opponents, Sharron Angle and Congressman Heck, whose anti-environment agendas would hurt the health of Nevada families, our abundant natural resources, and the state’s economy. Congressman Heck has voted to protect special tax breaks for Big Oil. As for Angle, her answer to the disastrous BP oil spill in 2010 was to “deregulate” Big Oil. Sure that’s what these guys need – less oversight, more tax breaks.
“Congressman Heck and Sharron Angle continue to parrot each other with their anti-environment, pro-Big Oil agendas,” said Sarah Zukowski, spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party. “Instead of supporting our clean energy industry which would create more jobs here in Nevada, Republicans like Sharron Angle and Congressman Heck want less oversight and more tax breaks for the Big Oil companies.”
