Reno, NV – It’s been six months since political insider Heidi Gansert announced her campaign for a key state Senate seat in Washoe County – and somehow she still refuses to say whether or not she would have voted for the bipartisan tax package passed in 2015 that is pumping hundreds of millions of dollars of new funding into Nevada’s public education system. Nevada Senate Democratic Leader Aaron D. Ford held a press conference in Reno last week calling on Gansert to shoot straight with voters.
The GOP’s response? Gansert stayed silent while Assistant Majority Leader Ben Kieckhefer blasted out a panicky statement that totally ignored Gansert’s embarrassing refusal to clearly state her position. As political commentator Jon Ralston pointed out, “Gansert remains silent while Kieckhefer doesn’t argue the facts and just attacks? That’s confidence.” Sandra Chereb at the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported yesterday that Gansert is still “noncommittal on whether she would have voted to pass the tax increases.”
“Political insider Heidi Gansert continues to dodge questions about her refusal to say she would have voted for or against funding to improve Nevada schools last session,” said Nevada State Party Press Secretary Stewart Boss. “That’s why the NV Dems are urging concerned residents in Washoe County to Ask Heidi A Question and demand a straight answer on this critical issue for Nevada families. Check your inbox, Heidi! We look forward to your timely response.”
