Las Vegas, NV – Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange released the following statement on Nevada’s Third Congressional District:
“Should former Tom DeLay operative and GOP Senate boss Michael Roberson survive his crowded primary, voters in Nevada’s Third Congressional District are going to have a clear choice between the special interests’ favorite legislator and a Democrat like Jacky Rosen who will be a champion for Nevada’s middle class families in Congress. Roberson’s failed record includes voting three times against raising the minimum wage, denying that women suffer from pay discrimination, and leading the charge to gut fair pay requirements for construction workers.
“Under Michael Roberson’s failed leadership, Senate Republicans proposed repealing the minimum wage from the state constitution, tried to gut overtime pay for Nevada workers, and killed legislation to help military families afford childcare. Michael Roberson has also proven himself to be wildly out of step with Nevadans by opposing a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants, and he sponsored a bill that would have allowed domestic abusers and stalkers to carry deadly weapons. Roberson even supports extreme ‘personhood’ legislation that restricts access to contraception, and he would join Washington Republicans in their efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and cut off access to critical health care for women. Time and time again, Michael Roberson has made clear the only thing he can be trusted to fight for are his campaign donors’ pockets. Nevada families deserve better, and that’s why they’ll elect a Democrat to represent them in Congress.”
