Las Vegas, NV – Today, Nevada State Democratic Party Press Secretary Sarah Zukowski issued the following statement on the 43rd Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which upheld a woman’s right to safe and legal abortion:
“Today marks 43 years since the Supreme Court’s monumental decision affirming a woman’s right to make her own choices about her own body — and yet, 43 years later, we are still fighting to protect women’s rights against extremist Republican politicians like Congressman Heck.
“Instead of focusing on the issues that matter to Nevadans like education, jobs and economic fairness, Congressman Heck has repeatedly pushed anti-women policies his entire time in office. Not only has Congressman Heck worked to take away a woman’s right to choose, he has joined right-wing extremists in efforts to prevent women from accessing life-saving, critical, and affordable healthcare and family planning services. To further solidify his anti-women record, Congressman Heck has worked to hurt not only our health, but also our bank accounts, believing that women should not be paid the same as men for equal work. Nevada women and families deserve a leader who will fight for women — and we know that is not Congressman Heck.”
