With Lindsey Graham Out, Entire 2016 GOP Field Opposes Immigration Reform with Path to Citizenship

Las Vegas, NV – With South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (this guy) suspending his presidential campaign today, it’s official: not a single candidate in the Republican presidential field in 2016 supports immigration reform that would strengthen our economy, fix our broken system and create a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

This is an issue that directly impacts thousands of Nevada families. According to the Pew Research Center, Nevada has the highest proportion of undocumented immigrants of any state in the country. Nevada also has the highest share of undocumented immigrants in the labor force and the highest share of students with undocumented immigrant parents.

“Instead of supporting comprehensive immigration reform, the Party of Trump’s anti-immigration agenda has become even more extreme and harmful for Nevada. Donald Trump, who demonized Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug criminals, has a plan to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. Ted Cruz has challenged the rest of the field to join him in ruling out a path to legal status. Marco Rubio has vowed to end President Obama’s immigration protections and tear families apart. After their post-2012 autopsy report stated unequivocally that the GOP “must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform,” every candidate vying for the Republican nomination is deliberately rejecting this advice in 2016. Good luck with that.” — Nevada State Democratic Party Press Secretary Stewart Boss
