Las Vegas, NV – Today, Nevada Democrats unveiled the first official mascot of the 2016 election cycle by introducing the (soon to be) Famous NV Dems Parrots to hold Sharron Angle and ethically-challenged Congressman Heck accountable. In October, news broke that Angle is actively exploring another run for U.S. Senate in 2016 and may challenge Congressman Heck in the Republican primary. In a press conference last week, Angle said she has been encouraged to jump in the race and she’s “looking for interest.”
From Yucca Man, to the Famous NV Dems Chicken, to Decoy Duck, to Deputy U.S. Marshall Chicken and Slick – the ethically questionable special-interest friend with benefits – Democrats have a long history in Nevada of using mascots to highlight how out of touch Republican candidates are. The Parrots honor that tradition and highlight that while Congressman Heck might not talk like Sharron Angle – apart from those times he called Social Security a “pyramid scheme” – as a Senator he would vote like Sharron Angle.
“Whether it is their mutual opposition to Governor Sandoval’s bipartisan increase in education funding, their Social Security privatization proposals, support for defunding Planned Parenthood, or their plan to repeal birthright citizenship, Sharron Angle and Congressman Heck are two birds of the same feather,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson. “The NV Dems Parrots will regularly highlight how, on issue after issue, Angle and Congressman Heck would bring more partisanship, gridlock, and dysfunction to the United States Senate.”
The (soon to be) Famous NV Dems Parrots will be a regular presence on the campaign trail to hold both Sharron Angle and Congressman Heck accountable.
