Las Vegas, NV – Congressman Heck today cast his latest vote to defund Planned Parenthood and continue the Washington gridlock and dysfunction Nevadans are fed up with. Earlier this week, the Congressional Budget Office issued a report that said defunding Planned Parenthood could result in over 650,000 women nationwide losing access to preventative healthcare services.
Here in Nevada, over half the women in Clark County who receive contraception services from safety net clinics use Planned Parenthood as their provider. Defunding Planned Parenthood, like Congressman Heck again voted to do today, could see a dramatic reduction in services for 19,000 Nevada women as a whole.
“Instead of focusing on creating jobs, increasing the minimum wage, or making college more affordable for working families, Washington politicians like Congressman Heck continue to obsessively vote to defund Planned Parenthood and restrict access to healthcare for Nevada women,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson.
