Las Vegas, NV – Weeks ago, at a Libertarian Party event, accidental Congressman Cresent Hardy essentially called children with disabilities a “drain on society.”
That’s right – the same Republican Congressman who compared the Employment Non Discrimination Act to “segregation,” talked about people driving “escalades” in “welfare districts,” and agreed with corporate layoff specialist Mitt Romney that 47% of the American people are essentially freeloaders who don’t pay taxes is now calling disabled children “drains on society.”
What’s worse – while he’s quick to criticize disabled children, Cresent Hardy has consistently defended racist rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the federal government over Bundy’s refusal to pay his taxes.
“If Cresent Hardy wants to talk about ‘drains on society,’ he should point a finger at his buddy, deadbeat rancher Cliven Bundy, not disabled children,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson. “Hardy has compared employment non-discrimination laws to ‘segregation,’ agreed with Mitt Romney that 47% of the American people are ‘freeloaders,’ and now called children with disabilities ‘drains on society.’ Cresent Hardy’s comments are outrageous and he owes an immediate apology to every Nevadan with a disability.”
