Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on Rep. Steven Horsford’s announcement that he will not run for Congress next year:
“In just one Congressional term, Steven was able to accomplish great things for Nevada. We worked together to ensure Lyon County can create jobs and help its economy recover. We fought for Tule Springs fossil bed to become a national monument so we can protect Nevada’s great outdoors. Steven stood strong in his support for comprehensive immigration reform, despite House Republicans’ refusal to bring up any legislation. And when North Las Vegas needed help getting more cops on the beat, Steven and I worked together to make that happen. He was omnipresent in his district and represented them well.
“Steven has been my friend and ally for many years. While I am disappointed he has decided not to run, I know he will continue to serve Nevada for many years to come. His work isn’t done.”
