Las Vegas, NV – Oh, this is rich.  Today, in a blatant attempt to paper over his shady record on transparency, former Tom DeLay operative and GOP Senate boss Michael Roberson somehow kept a straight face as he introduced Senate Bill 307.

The bill would ban gifts to lawmakers from lobbyists.  We wonder why Roberson would suddenly be so interested in an issue he has never seemed to care about before?  It couldn’t be because he was caught red-handed accepting free tickets for an event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after opposing a proposal to close special tax loopholes the Speedway enjoys, could it?

“Michael Roberson’s bill today is nothing more than a hypocritical stunt designed to distract Nevadans from his shady record on transparency,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson. “For Michael Roberson, who accepted free tickets from the Motor Speedway after opposing a bill that closed their special tax loopholes, to suddenly pretend to be concerned about transparency is the height of hypocrisy.”
