Las Vegas, NV – And who says the Assembly and Senate Republicans can’t get along?! Today, Michele Fiore and Assembly Republicans rammed through the Nevada Assembly former Tom DeLay operative and GOP Senate boss Michael Roberson’s top legislative priority — construction defect legislation that will reward Roberson’s wealthy campaign donors.
For multiple legislative sessions Roberson has made this legislation that will hurt Nevada homeowners his top priority. The special-interests have responded in kind by funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to Roberson or campaign committees controlled by or affiliated with him. Roberson has been so determined to pass this bill that would line his campaign donors’ pockets that he even threatened two years ago to hold education funding hostage to pass construction defect.
“While we’re glad Assembly Republicans took a break from arguing about who allegedly extorted whom first, this bill is bad for Nevada homeowners and good for Michael Roberson’s wealthy campaign donors,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson. “Despite his rhetoric on education being his top priority, Roberson is focused on a partisan agenda that hurts working families while lining his campaign donors’ pockets. Michael Roberson has sent a clear message to the wealthy special interests this legislative session: if you pay, Roberson and legislative Republicans will play.”
