Republican Unity? Will Brian Sandoval Endorse Sharron Angle’s Dangerous Vision for Nevada

As NevadaRepublicans attempt to unite a fractured party, Brian Sandoval will have todecide whether he will stand with Sharron Angle and her dangerous vision forour state.  And there's no time like the present for the Republicancandidate for governor to answer a few simple questions.

  • Does Brian Sandoval agree with Angle's plan to "phase out" Social Security and Medicare?
  • Does he support her views on Nevada’s hospitality workers – that they do work “Americans don’t do”?
  • Does Sandoval agree with Angle that the Departments of Education and Energy should be eliminated?
  • Does he agree with Angle's statement that out-of-work Nevadans are too "spoiled" to find "a real job" if they're collecting unemployment insurance and that extending those benefits would be "a terrible thing"?

Maybe his actions last nightspeak louder than words.  Sandoval was so "excited" to campaignwith Angle that he shut down his victory party early when it became clear shewould be the nominee. [Las Vegas Sun, 6/9/10] And no wonder, as “somesupporters literally shuddered at the thought” of campaigning with thissupposedly “mainstream” Angle.

“Republicansare talking about uniting under one banner: eliminate the safety nets thatensure seniors, children and Nevadans who have hit hard times during this toughrecession don’t fall through the cracks," Said Phoebe Sweet, communications director for the Nevada Democratic Party. "Sharron Angle isthe standard-bearer for a GOP that lists increasingly to the radical right andsupports extreme and dangerous proposals such as eliminating Social Securityand Medicare. Shouldn’t we know where Brian Sandoval stands, too?”
