Check out this video of Sen. John Ensign waxing on about how debtors were treated in the Old Testament – imprisonment in a debtor's prison or, in extreme cases, death. (Clip @ minute 1:37-1:38.) Ensign's exact words:
"Too much debt eventually will destroy you. And that's where we are headed. When you look at the Old Testament, there are plenty of scriptures about too much debt and what happens to the debtor. We are in that situation today."
Remind us again Sen. Ensign... what do they do to adulterers in the Old Testament? And it goes a little something like this:
Deuteronomy 22:22 "If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die."
Leviticus 20:10 "If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor--both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death."
So, now BOTH Sue Lowden and John Ensign want to take us back to Biblical times, when chickens were currency and stonings were entertainment?
