NSDP Statement on Announcement of Heller Appointment to Senate

Las Vegas, NV – Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson issued the following statement regarding the announcement from Governor Sandoval of his intention to appoint Rep. Dean Heller to replace Senator John Ensign in the U.S. Senate:

 

“No amount of backroom deals will change the fact that Dean Heller voted earlier this year to destroy thousands of Nevada jobs and just weeks ago voted to eliminate Medicare to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires.  No matter how hard the Republican establishment tries, the election for Nevada’s next Senator will be decided at the ballot box next year, not in a smoke filled room.

 

“We remain fully committed to electing a Democrat to the United States Senate who will fight to create jobs and protect Nevada’s seniors, veterans, middle class, and first responders from Dean Heller and the TEA Party’s extreme agenda.”
