Nevada State Democratic Party Announces Staff Transitions

Las Vegas — The Nevada State Democratic Party today announced staff transitions. “We have just been through an extraordinary election cycle, and are already laying the groundwork for the 2011 – 2012 election cycle,”  said Nevada State Democratic Chair Sam Lieberman.

Executive Director Travis Brock will leave his post February 1st. “Travis has been a tremendous asset for four years, and I can’t think of a better partnership between party Chair and Executive Director anywhere else in the country,” said Lieberman.

“I am truly honored to have been part of some political milestones in Nevada,” said Brock.  “My partnerships with Sam, our State Central Committee, elected officials, and the team here have left the party on a solid footing, so the moment is right to pursue my next opportunities.”

Zach Zaragoza, currently the party’s Operations and Compliance Director, will be stepping into the role of Executive Director.  A native of Henderson, Zaragoza graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2006, majoring in Political Science.  He served as president of both the UNLV Young Democrats and the Young Democrats of Nevada.  After graduation he worked as a Regional Representative in the Las Vegas Office of United States Senator Harry Reid.  He has worked in his current capacity at the Nevada State Democratic Party since 2008.

“I have watched Zach grow into this role over the years,” said Lieberman.  “His grasp of Nevada politics and his leadership and experience at the state party — particularly in the last two election cycles — make him a perfect fit for the position.”

“Zach has been invaluable, both to me and to the party,” added Brock.  “No one else in the country is more ideally suited to this job.  The party will continue to thrive under his leadership.”

Additionally, Communications Director Phoebe Sweet has left the party to join the Democratic Policy Center’s communications operation in Washington, DC.

Chris Anderson, who was the Nevada Fundraiser at Friends for Harry Reid and 2008 Finance Director at Jill Derby for Congress has joined the party as Finance Director.
