Nevada Shouldnt Replace One Out-Of-Touch Senator With Another

Las Vegas, NV — With Rep. Dean Heller’s announcement that he will seek to replace Senator John Ensign, Nevadans have a simple choice before them:

Can Nevada really afford to replace one out-of-touch senator with another one?

While Rep. Heller thought Nevadans were pre-occupied by Senator Ensign’s … “affairs” of state… Heller was racking up a voting record that is far too out of touch for Nevada’s families struggling to make ends meet as the economy continues to recover.

Just look at his voting record in the last two months alone:

DEAN HELLER’S ABSYMAL RECORD ON JOBS

Instead of voting to put Nevadans back to work at a time the state is facing 14.2% unemployment, Heller voted to slash Nevada jobs:

He supported the reckless Republican spending plan that non-partisan economists would cost America 700,000 jobs – 6,000 in Nevada alone.

He voted to eliminate 600 Nevada jobs at the solar plant in Tonopah.

DEAN HELLER’S TERRIBLE RECORD ON FORCLOSURES

While Nevada leads the nation for the 50th consecutive month in foreclosures – one in every 119 homes in Nevada is in foreclosure – Heller voted to eliminate assistance for Nevada families struggling to keep a roof over their heads:

He voted to gut an initiative to help underwater homeowners in Nevada refinance their mortgage and stay in their homes.  Even fellow Republican Joe Heck thought this was too out of touch.

DEAN HELLER’S VOTE TO WEAKEN BORDER SECURITY

While he talks a good game about securing our border, Heller’s voting record indicates otherwise:

•         He voted to fire 250 ICE agents currently working to keep our southwest border safe.

“With Nevada's economy just beginning to recover, we cannot afford to replace one out of touch senator with another one,” said Sam Lieberman, chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party.  “Instead of working to boost our economy and keep Nevadans safe, Dean Heller voted to slash 6,000 Nevada jobs, eliminate a program helping Nevadans stay in their homes and fire 250 border agents currently protecting our southern border.  That's not just out of touch. That’s out of line.”
