Lowden linked with group that compares Obama to Bin Laden

Las Vegas, NV. – We already knew Sue Lowden was prone to speaking before getting her facts straight, but now we know that’s because facts aren’t all that important to the former chairwoman of the failed state GOP.

Lowden has been linked to Patriot Depot, birthplace of such flights of right wing fantasy as the Birther Movement, producer of “parody” videos comparing Pres. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden and purveyor of such “supplies for the conservative revolution” such as books on the constitutional legitimacy of Obama’s presidency.

Patriot Depot has been widely dismissed as a right-wing fringe group. But as the Republican Party establishment continues to move to the right of the rest of America, Patriot Depot has been tied to the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and Senate candidate Sue Lowden.

According to MediaMatters.org, today’s “Patriot Update,” an email newsletter that is produced by Patriot Depot, featured a direct fundraising appeal from RNC Chairman Michael Steele. And both the NRCC and Sue Lowden have used subscriber email lists from Patriot Depot.

“We call on Sue Lowden to disavow this fringe group – a group that stoops to the level of comparing the president of the United States of America to a terrorist and promotes fantastic right-wing tales that have been long since debunked,” said Phoebe Sweet, communications director for the Nevada State Democratic Party. “Disagreeing with the very Democratic policies that have turned this country around after 8 years of failed Republican leadership is one thing. Getting in bed with groups that spread divisive and dangerous lies is another altogether.

“This is just the latest sign that Sue Lowden is out of touch with Nevada voters, who have rejected those tactics. Rather than doing business with them, Sue Lowden should disavow this fringe group.”
