Heller Threatens Economic Recovery With Dangerous “No” Vote on Budget

Las Vegas, NV – Rep. Dean Heller put the will of the extremists in his own party ahead of Nevadans with his announcement today of his intention to vote “no” on the budget agreement made by President Obama and Congressional leaders late last week.  In voting against the budget agreement, Heller is essentially voting to shut down the government.

“When will Dean Heller stop trying endear himself to the extreme TEA Party wing of his party and do what's right for Nevada?” said Zach Hudson, spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party.  “Heller is voting to shut down the government just because he didn't get everything he wanted in the extreme Republican spending bill that would kill 6,000 Nevada jobs, repeal Wall Street reform and slash education funding for Nevada children.”

In addition to his announcement of his vote to shut down the government, Heller last week came out in support for Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget which would eliminate Medicare.  This comes after Heller’s vote for HR 1 earlier in the year which would have cost Nevada alone 6,000 jobs.
