Five Questions for Michael Steele

Does the RNC chairman support Sharron Angle's extreme ideas?

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele will try to rally an increasingly fractured Nevada GOP in Las Vegas today.

Sharron Angle will have to miss Steele’s rally at Nevada GOP headquarters (since, you know, they have one of those now). But why not ask Steel what he thinks of the nation’s most extreme U.S. Senate candidate? How does the leader of so-called mainstream Republicans feel about Angle’s outside-the-mainstream movement?

And what better chance to ask him than today – when the Republican establishment Angle has fought so hard to buck (at least until her DC handlers got ahold of her in June) will be in one place at one time.

1. Do you agree with Sharron Angle that we should turn the Veterans Administration over to private corporations that will put profits first and veterans a distant second?
2. Do you believe Big Insurance should be allowed to deny coverage for mammograms, colon cancer screenings and care for autistic children, like Sharron Angle does?
3. Like Sharron Angle, do you believe a young girl who has been raped should be forced to give birth to her attacker’s baby?
4. Do you think we should kill Social Security and Medicare, breaking our promise to seniors, like Sharron Angle?
5. Sharron Angle says that if she doesn’t win at the ballot box, people may have to reach for the bullet box and employ a Second Amendment remedy. Do you agree with her?

“Even mainstream Republicans realize Sharron Angle is dangerous for Nevada and have tried to put as much distance between themselves and this extreme candidate as possible,” said Phoebe Sweet, communications director for the Nevada State Democratic Party. “So the question for RNC Chairman Michael Steele is this: Do you agree with the unedited version of Sharron Angle – the one who advocates using Second Amendment remedies if she doesn’t win in November, who wants to kill Social Security and Medicare and privatize the VA, who puts Big Insurance profits ahead of autistic children and would ax coverage for mammograms and other cancer screenings, and who believes a young girl impregnated by her rapist should be forced to have the baby? Will Steele stand with Nevada’s GOP standard bearer, or will he, too, run from Sharron Angle as fast as his bus can drive him?”
