Does Mark Amodei Support Latest GOP Plan to Cut Cap and Kill Medicare?

Las Vegas, NV – As Republicans in Washington continue their latest efforts to end Medicare and gut Social Security for Nevada seniors, career politician and lobbyist Mark Amodei has refused to take a position on the Republicans’ so-called “Cut, Cap and Balance” legislation.  The House passed the legislation yesterday and is expected to be voted on in the Senate later this week.  If enacted, the legislation would destroy 700,000 American jobs and go further than the previously adopted Republican plan to kill Medicare because it guts Social Security as well.

Amodei told Jon Ralston earlier this month that he’s “looking real seriously at it” but when asked if he was ready to sign a pledge for “Cut, Cap and Balance”, Amodei responded “nope not yet.”

"Given that Mark Amodei has already said he wants to 'cozy up' to the Republican plan to kill Medicare, it's surprising that he is now refusing to say whether he'll back its sister proposal: 'Cut, Cap and Kill Medicare'," said said Zach Hudson, spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party.  "Perhaps he's worried about the political backlash of supporting a plan that not only breaks our promise to Nevada seniors by ending Medicare and Social Security, but destroying almost a million American jobs.  Amodei owes the voters of CD2 a straight answer on where he stands”
