Today, The Northern Nevada Central Labor Council held a press conference to call out both political parties. They say everyone needs to do more to create jobs in Nevada.
It was a just a small group of workers and some of the unemployed, but they were loud and clear. "We want jobs and we want them now, said Todd Koch, President of the Northern Nevada Central Labor Council."
They huddled up in their hard hats and vests. Holding homemade signs, construction workers came in hopes of changing the course of our country.
"They've been backed into a corner," said Koch. "With the unemployment we have here in our state, what are they going to do? They're going to stand and fight."
They are also endorsing Senator Harry Reid, which they announced today. Mike Rosenblatt is a part of The National Association of Letter Carriers. He says they believe in Reid as well. "I think Reid is fighting for Nevada jobs everyday."
They say Reid will create clean energy jobs and use Nevada's natural resources to put people back to work. "He will help us in geothermal, solar, wind and then we can produce jobs here in Nevada," said Koch.
Keeping jobs in the Silver State is definitely a big issue to Nevadans.
Robert Masters is a drywall finisher and he says nobody is hiring. "We've seen contractors come in from other states and they're bringing in their own people. We want jobs here. We want to work."
Workers we spoke with told us they don't think Sharron Angle is the right choice for Nevada. They say she would fail to crackdown on companies sending jobs overseas. "I think to go to the person that is saying it's not their job to create jobs is not smart.I think she is extreme and even a bit dangerous," Rosenblatt said.
