Neilsen ratings show Bush's final State of the Union message was the least watched of his Presidency.

Nielsen's nine-network, cumulative 24.7/38 household rating and share was down nearly 17% from last year and was the least-watched of the Bush presidency. (Individual network and specific demographic ratings are not available, as the State of the Union is not a "commercial broadcast.")

A share is a percentage of TV households that have their TV sets on at a given time. A rating is a percentage of all TV households, whether or not their sets are turned on. For example, a 1.0 rating is 1% of the total U.S. households with a TV.

Can Senator Reid or the democrats do any better?
written by LB, February 04, 2008
President Bush urged the Senate to pass his stimulus bill quickly. While the bill was improved in the Senate, Senator Reid, scared of risking a fight and not looking good is dumping millions of unemployed from the stimulus plan, a group most likely to spend, i.e. stimulate, the economy. He says, "it's the best I can do". The President always says that, but the difference is he says it after he wins. Why do democrats say it before they are planning to lose?

Bush's disapproval rating worst of any president in 70 years

An article in the USA Today highlighted a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll that shows only 28% of Americans approving of the job George W. Bush is doing; 69% disapprove.

The author, Susan Page, also indicated that the disapproval rating is "the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll."
